The Dunes collection from Sørensen Leather is a part of our permanent upholstery collection for our lounge chairs and ottomans. The Dunes collection has received the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, a highly-respected certification verifying that it meets their rigorous requirements regarding the environment, use of energy and resources.  

Nordic Ecolabelling works to reduce the environmental impact from production and consumption of goods with the aid of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel logo, making it easier for consumers to choose the environmentally best goods. The Nordic Swan Ecolab sets strict environmental requirements in all relevant phases of a product’s life cycle and strict requirements for chemicals used in eco-labelled products. 

At UMAGE we ensure that all goose feathers used for our Eos feather lamp collection is 100% sustainably sourced from farmland to end-consumer. All feathers are licensed with an RDS certification, ensuring the well-being of animals in our production.  

RDS stands for Responsible Down Standard and is an acknowledged certification in the industry of down and feathers. To receive this certification our entire product supply chain - from farmland to end consumer - has been audited, approved, and certified by IDFL, ensuring that all animals are treated with respect for the Five Freedoms of Animal welfare. In the sourcing of the feathers used in our Eos feather lamps, we are repurposing a by-product from the food industry. Goose feathers that would otherwise be burned and wasted are instead sanitized and repurposed, thus diminishing the environmental impact. 

With products certified with the Responsible Down Standard you’re ensured that no live-plucking or force feeding has taken place.

All Horizon textiles are certified with OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, ensuring: 

• No substances harmful to the environment or health have been used 
• All components of the labelled product have been tested for harmful chemicals. 
• A standard that is far more comprehensive than the legislation in Denmark and the EU (REACH), and therefore a good tool for ensuring compliance with legal requirements regarding harmful chemicals in products. 

Our Hope leather is certified with OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD. The LEATHER STANDARD label guarantees that the Hope leather undergoes rigorous testing and ensures that no substances that are harmful to health or the environment are being used – always meeting the highest standard. The LEATHER STANDARD test criteria are standardised worldwide and are updated annually to include new legal requirements or scientific discoveries.

Our Hope leather collection and our 100% recycled Horizons collection are certified with GRS, ensuring:

• That the leather and textiles fulfil the ISO requirements for recyclability. Both processed material and consumer waste can be used. 
• That the leather and textiles fulfil strict social and environmental requirements. 
• Chemicals with potential harm are not allowed to be used in GRS certified products. 
• The identity of the recycled material is preserved: from production to finished product. 
• An independent third party audits every step of the supply chain. 

All paper used for catalogues and packaging in UMAGE is made from forest-friendly paper. Paper and packaging are some of the most widely used forest-based products, so ensuring they are sustainably sourced is crucial to protecting healthy, resilient forests. The FSC® certification ensures a responsible choice and demonstrates a commitment to forests worldwide. By using FSC-certified paper and packaging, we are taking a step towards protecting the future of our forests and stand against harmful practices like deforestation and illegal logging.   

UMAGE is in the process of getting all wooden furniture and lighting pieces FSC-certified, hoping to introduce the first FSC-certified designs early autumn 2024.
